ABOUT
PublicDebt.eu is an independent data project that makes public debt statistics for European Union countries easier to explore, compare and understand.
WHY THE PROJECT EXISTS
Public debt statistics are publicly available, but they often come from different databases and are not presented in a form designed for quick comparison.
PublicDebt.eu processes and presents these data in a clear and consistent format so that they can be explored by the general public, journalists and people working professionally with public finance.
DATA
The project primarily uses harmonised Eurostat data, ECB data and data published by the Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic.
Source data are automatically downloaded, transformed and checked before the final datasets used by the website are produced.
INDEPENDENCE
PublicDebt.eu is not an official website of Eurostat, ECB, the Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic or any other public institution.
It is an independent project based on publicly available data.
